Find all the information you need to study at Sussex following Brexit.
In a referendum on 23 June 2016, the UK electorate voted to leave the European Union (EU). Our staff and students from EU countries are a valued part of the Sussex community, and it is a priority for us to ensure they can continue to work and study with us. This information will continue to be updated as soon as new guidance becomes available.
As well as information available here in the Brexit Hub, the University continues to hold Brexit information events for students.
As we wait to find out exactly how or if the UK will leave the European Union after the 31 October, I want to share a short message with you all.
As Vice Chancellor, one of the most important parts of my job is to make sure that all our staff and students are aware that no matter what the outcome we will do everything within our means to support you.
There are a wide range of views about what is best for the UK around Brexit. I hear a real variety of thoughts from staff and students on our campus; in our city and I’m sure you do too amongst all your families and friends.
As an inclusive community that celebrates diversity and freedom of expression, I value greatly the opportunity for everyone to freely share their views and respect the differences of opinion we all have on this matter.
This is especially important as no one is certain what the outcome of Brexit will be, and so we find ourselves living in unusual times.
Yet, one thing we can be sure of is that whatever the outcome of the Brexit process, we will continue to be a truly international University, one that continues to be inclusive and celebrates difference, for we are the stronger for it.
That’s why we will always do everything possible to maintain and strengthen our connections and collaborative work across the world.
Hopefully the direction the UK will be taking will become clear soon – however in the meantime, please know that the University has the future of all our staff and students from the EU very top of mind.
We will continue to hold information sessions for staff and students on applying for the EU Settlement Scheme, as well as providing opportunities for you to share any concerns directly with our HR and student support teams, so we can understand exactly how you are feeling.
Please remember you can find out the latest information and advice on our website at the Brexit Hub: sussex.ac.uk/brexit. As more information becomes available we will keep you updated as quickly as possible.
